Troubleshooting
To isolate a malfunction, proceed as follows:
Clearly define the problem (or symptom) and when it occurs.
Locate the problem in the Troubleshooting table.
Review all possible causes. Then, one-at-a-time, work through the list of corrections until the problem is solved.
Problem | Cause | Correction |

Power switch ON but fryer completely inoperative. | Open circuit. | Plug fryer in. Check breaker or fuse at supply box. |
Vat is underfilled. | JIB is low or empty. | Fill the JIB. |
JIB oil line is clogged or collapsed. | Check JIB line. | |
Filter pan needs cleaned. | Clean filter pan and change paper or pad. | |
Oil foaming or boiling over top of vat. | Water in oil. | Drain and clean oil. |
Improper or bad oil. | Use recommended oil. | |
Improper filtering. | Refer to filtering procedures. | |
Improper rinsing after cleaning the vat. | Clean and rinse vat and then dry thoroughly. | |
Oil will not drain from vat. | Drain valve clogged with crumbs. | Open valve, force cleaning brush through drain. Remove the cleaning brush immediately so the drain valve does not close on the brush, which can damage the brush and drain valve. Skim vat more often to prevent clogs. |
Drain trough clogged. | Remove right side panel and remove plug from end of trough, clean trough. | |
Filter motor runs but pumps oil slowly. | Filter line connections loose. | Tighten all filter line connections. |
Filter paper or pad clogged. | Change filter paper or pad. | |
Filter not reassembled properly. | Refer to assembly instructions on inside door. | |
Bubbles in oil during entire filtering process. | Filter pan not completely engaged. | Ensure filter pan return line is pushed completely in- to the receiver on the fryer. |
Filter pan clogged. | Clean pan and change paper or pad. | |
Damaged O-ring on filter line receiver on fryer. | Replace O-ring. | |
Filter motor will not run. | Thermal reset button on the rear of the pump motor is tripped. | Allow motor to cool, then, using a screwdriver, press hard against the button until it clicks. |
Open circuit. | Breakers in fryer tripped; open left door and reset breaker on fryer. | |
Power cord for vat # 1 is not plugged in. | Plug power cord into receptacle. | |
“IS POT FILLED” filter error prompt. | All oil did not completely return after a filter cycle. | Follow prompts. Is JIB full? If not, fill JIB. |
“CHECK PAN” prompt. | Filter pad clogged. | Replace filter pad/clean pan. |
“FILTER PAN MISSING” prompt. | Filter pan not completely engaged. | Adjust filter pan. |
Filter pan missing. | Find pan and replace. | |
Filter pan interlock not engaged. | Adjust filter pan to engage interlock. | |
“CHANGE FILTER PAD” prompt appears | Filter pad has nto been changed within a 24 hr time period; Main power switch was turned off during filter pad change | Replace old filter pad with NEW filter pad while main power switch is in ON position. 24/7 stores should replace filter twice a day. |
Drain pan microswitch stuck | Check microswitch. |
Burn Risk To avoid burns, turn POWER switch to OFF before resetting pump motor. |
